Got Leaves For Composting?

Composting Now that New York City is no longer collecting leaves for compost, I'd love to find a way for neighbors with fall leaves to get them to someone who can use them. If any of you PLGers compost and could use some leaves, please leave a note in the comments (or email me at brooklynite282 at gmail). Likewise, if you have leaves that you're going to trash, note that in the comments. Hopefully, with minimal wrangling, we'll be able to keep at least a few piles out of the landfill.

I'm hoping to set up a composting area at the back of 40 Clarkson Ave and would love to get hold of some fall leaves. Anyone with leaves to offer, or advice for starting a composting program in a large building, is welcome to contact me. nsinger at email.com
Thanks! Naomi

Sustainable Flatbush

Sustainable Flatbush will be collecting leaves at our new community garden site at the Flatbush Reformed Church, on the first two Saturdays in November! Hours and details TBA, check our website as the date approaches.

This is our second year participating in Project LeafDrop, a coalition of NYC community gardeners whose goal is to keep leaves out of the landfill and use them to make "black gold" (compost) for urban gardens. More info (and other LeafDrop sites) is available here:
