Lincoln Road Residents and Merchants Forming New Block Association

Ocean-lincoln-brooklyn Here's some good news to start of the week: residents and merchants along the commercial strip of Lincoln between Flatbush and Ocean are organizing a block association. The new group, which is calling itself Lincoln Road Between Flatbush & Ocean Residents and Merchants Association (LinRoFORMA), will hold its first meeting this Thursday, February 18, at K-Dog, at 7 pm. Organizer Dynishal Gross tells me, "Anyone who lives or operates a business on this block, plus residents of 99 & 115 Ocean Avenue are welcome to attend and to join. Questions and comments should be directed to linroforma@gmail.com."

Here's hoping the group really takes off. As home of the Prospect Park subway station, the entrance to Prospect Park, the Maple Street School, and several bus lines, this block is not only important for the residents and business owners along it but to everyone in the neighborhood.

Tonight's LinFORMA kick-off meeting was great. Several residents and Jose Peralta, the owner of the market at Lincoln & Ocean for 22 years, attended.

We got to know one another a bit, voted unanimously to form the block association, completed membership questionnaires that will help shape our group's activities and agreed on a date and agenda for our next meeting.

Members will assist with translating materials for future meetings into Spanish and Haitian Kreyol.

We'll meet again on Thursday 3/11. If you'd like to fill out the member questionnaire before then, write linroforma@gmail.com.

Go Lincoln Road!

P.S. -- We were pleased to be joined by Milford of the Lefferts Manor Association. Thanks for the support LMA!

And thanks for the project ideas Art Tatum! See you at the next meeting?
