Residents from the block of Hawthorne between Flatbush and Bedford are meeting on Wednesday to set up a new block association. The meeting will be held at Church of the Evangel (corner of Hawthorne and Bedford) at 7 pm on December 9. Come on down!
A reader wrote us to ask if there's any place in the neighborhood that sells live Christmas trees. The answer: YES: Kings County Nurseries, at 625 New York Avenue (between Fenimore and Rutland) sells Christmas trees, wreaths, and garlands. And if you print out the coupon on their website, you can save 10%.
Sunday night, Dec. 6, Tod Murphy, the creator of The Farmers Diner is coming to our neighborhood to meet with neighbors and small scale local investors to consider expanding this small chain of local/sustainable family restaurants in our neighborhood.
The Farmers Diner mainly relies on ingredients that come from local growers and producers. They got national attention from the Times and Food publications when they opened up their first restaurant in Vermont. They offer traditional diner favorites made from local area produce and farmers.
Check out their website http://www.farmersdiner.com and please join me in welcoming Tod and Denise to our neighborhood. This is crucial moment in our neighborhoods development. It's vital that we all come out and show support for this venture if we want to make it a reality. I hope to see you all tomorrow!
