Gunman opens fire in Parkside coffee shop Monday night [CORRECTED]
This just in from ABC-News 7: An argument in front of a bodega on A gunman killed an 18 year old man and injured two others on Parkside last night. All three victims were men between the ages of 18 and 23. The man who died was later identified as Brian Scott.
It's scary to see this photo of the police tape (via ABC 7/Eyewitness News). Anyone who uses the Parkside subway station knows this block well.
(Thanks to Rudy on Winthrop)

It wasn't a gun fight. The victim, Brian Scott, was unarmed. He was also a really talented rollerblader. You can see a video of him skating here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S4YPsPPHPsE
It's a senseless, senseless loss.

Thank you for posting the YouTube link, Matt. Putting some humanity behind a name in such an unfortunate news report pulls it all into perspective. I've been a resident here for a short amount of time (2 years), but there are so many young families and individuals that should not be subjected to violence like this on a regular basis. I'm curious to know what community officials are planning on doing to confront this recent explosion of shootings. Where are the police street patrols? Rarely do I see a cop walking down the street-- always cruising by in their car. Having positive African-American police role models readily available in the community could make a world of difference for Lefferts Garden. Common sense, no? Am I the only one that thinks this?
