New York Times highlights the greenest block

The Times calls our neighborhood Flatbush. Now if only we could convince our neighbors to do the same...

Well, in the body of the post they call it "Flatbush’s Prospect-Lefferts Gardens section". I've always thought the Times' style of calling neighborhoods "sections" seemed a little cold. Of course we could get really site-specific, and call Hawthorne Street what the skate kids call it: H-Block. Apparently "it's a prison thing", as one 12-year-old explained to me.

OMG, Matt. That is alternately one of the funniest and saddest things I've heard all day! A 12 year old? What time is it???

Meanwhile, congratulations to Lincoln 2! (Or is it L-Block-II)?

You could forward them a copy of the official map: http://www.nyc.gov/html/lpc/downloads/pdf/maps/prospect_lefferts_gardens.pdf

I dont think its cold at all. I've grown up in Bklyn (in Flatbush) and will say in general ppl tend to call almost anywhere from Empire to the Junction "Flatbush". I know there's PLG, Ditmas, Midwood, Kensington running all between that huge part of Bklyn...but overwhelmingly its Flatbush and its beautiful. When people ask me to describe PLG I usually have to say its part of Flatbush...running from about here to here. And also look at five different "official" maps and the lines will be drawn at different places. Very few run into the 11226 and even then will only stretch to clarkson. Most will start further back in 11225.

Anywho. I like this blog!
