Brooklyn Public Library fundraiser

Fundraisers are a dime a dozen these days but if I had to vote I'd vote for throwing your spare dimes to the Brooklyn Public Library. Due to the budget shortages, the library is faced with cutting hours and services. But you can help—and drink some quality brew at the same time. The Brooklyn Vanguard, Brooklyn Public Library's young donor group, is having a party nearby in Crown Heights (or Prospect Heights, if you're a realtor).

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Hi Hawthorne Street-
thanks for your post on the May 14 fundraiser for Brooklyn Public Library at Franklin Park Bar.

With proposed budget cuts, in addition to hours and staff, we're facing a steep cut for materials and programs, as well, so money raised will go towards keeping collections and events going at Clinton Hill Library.

We hope that your readers support their community by attending -- it will be a fun night for a good cause.

Stefanie Arck, BPL Staffer
