A couple of local eateries have faced visits from restaurant inspectors recently. There's good news and bad news. Bad news first: Gordon's Bakery (
711 Flatbush, near Parkside) didn't make the cut and will need a followup inspection to make sure problems have been addressed -- problems such as mice, unprotected food, improper food contact surfaces, no adequate handwashing facility, and hot food that's not hot enough. The place received 40 violation points; 27 or more requires a followup.
Sushi Tatsu III (
644 Flatbush, at Fenimore) fared well with a mere 15 points (Pretty much every restaurant gets some points.) for relatively minor issues, such as workers not wearing hair restraints. Charles and I get takeout from here at least once a week, so.... hurray for Sushi Tatsu!
Hurray indeed! I love Sushi Tatsu, and I'm always a little afraid it will close...I never see anyone eating at the tables, but then again I always get takeout, so maybe that's the majority of their business.

Too bad about Gordon's. I wanted to check out their roti after reading a review in the Village Voice. Not surprisingly, it was the same reviewer who did a write-up of Whiskey Sunday and bashed local bloggers for not reviewing the wonderful roti shops in the neighborhood. I guess I'll stick with Ali's and Gloria's.

I wouldn't let one bad inspection keep you away. Among the restaurants who have to be reinspected? Enduro.
You can check to see if De Hot Pot on Washington (across from the BP) has roti; they passed the inspection with flying colors.

How about PLG versions of the 'No Flyer' signs/stickers put out by the Park Slope Civic council - http://parkslopeciviccouncil.org/signs? This could reduce waste paper that gets dumped on our sidewalks.
