Audubon rep calls Lincoln tower bad for birds
Brownstoner reports that Prospect Park Audubon Center senior naturalist Gabriel Willow fears that the glass design for the Lincoln Road tower risks killing scores of birds. Architect Tom Gilman hasn't responded to say whether he took the bird issue in consideration when designing the building.
I don't know enough about this issue to comment, but hope developer Henry Herbst was serious when he told the Brooklyn Eagle that he's considering holding a neighborhood meeting to discuss the project.

The city of Toronto created a guide on how to build buildings that deter birds from crashing into them, I researched the topic when someone brought up concerns. That guide said segmented glass is a way to deter birds. Like this building has. The buildings that are the worst for making birds hit them are the buildings that are smooth uninterruped sheets of glass. The birds need to be able to see the building is a solid building at night when it's lit from within.
Hopefully the architect will do everything possible with the design to deter birds from hitting it.

I know Gabriel Willow to be an extremely knowledgeable naturalist, so I take his opinion very seriously. Still, as the previous poster observed, there are ways to mitigate this problem. hopefully Tom Gilman, or Henry Herbst will address these concerns.
