Poll: What business do you want in the new Lincoln building?

Prospectparktowertwo However you feel about the glass tower on Lincoln, sentient PLG residents seem to agree on one thing: we'd love to see a successful new business (or two) in that spot. But what kind of business?

To gauge opinion, we've created a survey and will present the results to the developer.

* * * VOTE HERE * * *

Background: The ground floor of the building will most likely be a major retailer or a bank. (This is a premium space that will price out most restaurants and smaller businesses.) The second floor will reportedly be either offices or, possibly, a gym. A gym might also be possible on the ground floor.

NOTE: To discourage multiple voting, the survey software allows only one vote per household. If you have any problems, email us at brooklynite282 at gmail.com.

My two cents: I'd much rather see an organic grocer than a bank in that spot. I don't visit a bank weekly and so I don't need a bank to be as convenient as a grocer (which we visit several times a week).

Besides, we use WaMu on Flatbush, which, along with HSBC, is convenient enough for those in the south portion of PLG.

The last thing we need is a drug store; we've already got two within a few blocks of the house in either direction, including a large Duane Reade.

I agree with Carrie. An organic grocery would be my first choice. My second choice would be a yoga studio or a cosy French Bistro.

I definitely believe that a fitness center would be useful and convenient in this area - especially for the winter months. One that offers childcare would be ideal. Other than that we really NEED a major bank branch within close proximity of Porspect Park (i.e. Chase, Citibank, or HSBC). Restaurants and coffee shops would be too much competition for our already existing establishments on Lincoln Road and in the area. That would be wasted space.

There's an HSBC 4 blocks from the park (on Flatbush & Caton), or 2 blocks south of PLG proper.

There's also a Chase at the corner of Empire and Nostrand.

This kind of development(building) will alter the whole aspect of neighborhood lifestyle.In general,It will force out some ordinary people in the area due to skyrocketing rents and house sales.

Banks are pretty popular as ground floor businesses, but don't stick a gym there with it, nor directly above it. Then again, I suppose it depends on the size of the bank; if its smaller its not a huge deal, I suppose.
